Jubilee almonds is another of Hansen Electrics long standing clients that approached our automation division to upgrade and Automate the existing pump station.
The application was to run pumps systematically depending on the irrigation requirements taking the Pump rates, Current draw and allowable supply into consideration. All the system readouts were to be represented visually simultaneously in the pump shed and Site office. Data transfer to be sent via a Telemetry system at a distance in excess of 4km.
A
complete site evaluation was carried out and the most efficient,
cost effective and versatile PLC system was recommended for the
application.
The choices of systems were made taking into account that the system could be varied to suit the changing needs of the client without sacrifice of quality or reliability. A detailed report was supplied to the client along with an anticipated time line of works.
Once the approval of the work was received the Hansen Electric procurement
Staff went into action. The necessary panels were ordered and within a short passage of time the panel wiring staff had started on the wiring of the automation panel. A new main switch board was also ordered and the necessary ETSA applications were done.
The Automation Panel was duly installed and down time to the pump station was kept to minimum. New Data cabling well as various Meters, transducers and switches were installed in the pump shed in preparation for the Main switch board installation.
Upon
the final installation date the widely acclaimed Hansen Electric
teamwork came into operation. The High Voltage Division striped
out the existing Main switch board whilst the Automation Division
prepared sensing devises and programmed where necessary. The jointing
of cables was carried out under the strict supervision of our highly
qualified High Voltage Technicians. The new Switch board was lifted
into place by means of a 10 Ton Self Propelled crane. Once all connections
were done ETSA came in and upon inspection re-energized the system.
The commissioning of the site now was the task of The Automation Division. A new SCADA program was installed in the office so the operation of the pumps could be monitored and controlled. The new system allows the Management and control operators of Jubilee almonds to remotely Start or Stop any pump required and monitor all the functions and characteristics of the pumps and ETSA supply. A detailed History of the system is kept so that the system can be more efficiently fine tuned as the circumstances change.
A continuous internal audit is taken to valuate the procedures as well as performance of the operation. This allows the internal operating systems of Hansen Electric to be effectively modified so as to afford prospective clients with an even better Hansen Solution.
