One of the more recent projects carried out, was the new Waikerie
Inland Saline Aquaculture Centre, done for SARDI. (South Australian
Research and Development Institute)
The project was designed to run trials on breeding fish using water from the local salt interception scheme pipeline.
New high voltage power lines were brought out to the site, and a complete new electrical system was installed.
This included a backup site generator and automatic changeover system for power loss conditions.
General power was run around the site, and a system was installed
to monitor the alarms which may occur, during day to day use of
the plant. These alarms were displayed at the location in the plant,
and also relayed back to a central Laboratory, via a system of PLC's. (Programmable Logic Controllers)
The function of the PLC's was to gather and monitor critical and
non critical settings around the plant, and relay the information
back to a central point when needed. These alarms then dial a mobile
phone, to alert the operator that something is wrong.
